Axé Fest
Learn about and experience Capoeira's tradition of Black liberation at Axé Fest, our community day of FREE classes featuring Capoeira and its related art forms. Classes are open to kids and adults!

Friday 4/25, 7-8pm: Afro-Brazilian Dance Class with special guest Mestre Omi
Sunday 4/27, 1-2pm: Intro to Capoeira Class for Kids & Adults. Parents must accompany kids

Celebrating the graduation of our youth students as they receive their first cord or their promotion to their next cord level.

The CapoeiraDC community will hold a community outing to the Anacostia River Festival, where they will provide a performance and free interactive class.

Mestre Morcego Formatura & Adult Batizado
Celebrating the formal promotion of Mestre Morcego to the title of Mestre, supervised by Grande Mestre Lobão, and the graduation of our adult students.
We are beyond thrilled to welcome an extraordinary lineup of Mestres and Contra Mestres who will be joining us for this year’s Batizado, Troca de Cordão and Formatura celebration. Each one brings a unique voice, lineage, and legacy to our community. Their presence is a gift, and we can’t wait to share this unforgettable week with them.
