Where: The Capoeira Spot, 636 Florida Ave. NW and Banneker Community Center, 2500 Georgia Ave NW

Capoeira Malês DC — led by Instrutor Morcego and supervised by Mestre Curisco — is holding its 5th annual batizado beginning on September 15, 2011.

The batizado ceremony will be on Saturday, September 17 from 1:00-5:00 pm at the Banneker Community Center (2500 Georgia Ave NW).  The event is FREE for audience members.

  • Capoeira Workshops - 6:30-9:00pm (The Capoeira Spot)

Friday, September 16

  • Capoeira Workshops - 3:00 - 5:00pm (Banneker Community Center)
  • Afro-Brazilian Dance workshop - 7:00-8:00pm (The Capoeira Spot)
  • Roda - 8:00 - 10:00pm (The Capoeira Spot)

Saturday, September 17

  • Batizado & Troca de Corda - including Samba, Afro, Maculele, and Samba de Roda performances 1:00-5:00pm (Banneker Community Center)
  • Party - 9:00pm - 2:00am (Erin's House)
