Samba — Brazil’s national dance — is an Afro-Brazilian musical and dance style where the sambista blends intricate footwork while simultaneously gyrating their hips, shoulders, and arms in an flamboyant and lively dance. 

Sonia also teaches other Afro-Brazilian dances including: Samba-Reggae, Orixá, Samba de Roda, Pagode, and Axé. 

Sonia choreographs CapoeiraDC’s dance routines including Samba "Faceira," Samba Reggae "Calor" and "Mistura" and Afro "Misanga."
